Coming into this class, I didn’t fully understand what the digital revolution was or what it really meant for something to be classified as digital or analog. I had a general understanding that it was related to technology but didn’t realize how deeply it connects to the way we represent and communicate information. As the semester went on, I learned that digital systems don’t capture reality perfectly, they simplify it into structured pieces that are easier to share and analyze. While this improves the reliability and clarity of pictures of information, it also means that some detail is always lost.

One of the most important takeaways for me was understanding that digital systems are not completely objective. Even though they rely on fixed values and structured data, they still depend on our interpretation. An example that directly connects to my major in Forensic Science is tool like fingerprint databases and DNA analysis system, which can process evidence quickly, but there is still subjectivity involved when interpreting results. That balance between technology and human judgement is something I will carry with me.

A part of the class I found very valuable was watching other students present their projects. Since most students came from different majors, it gave a more well-rounded view of how digital systems and AI are used in the real world. I was surprised to learn about the different software programs used in construction that not only help design buildings but also detect potential conflicts in the structure before the building process begins. Another presentation on coding showed how important it is for organizing and analyzing large amount of scientific, even outside computer science fields.

Overall, this class gave me a much better understanding of how digital systems impact both my field and everyday life. It showed me that while digital technology is powerful and efficient, it also comes with its limitations. Learning to recognize both sides is what makes this course meaningful, and it has changed how I view the world around me.
